Mission Statement : Our mission is to provide a supportive and exciting environment for youth in Colorado through organized rodeos, where families and communities unite every weekend to cheer on passionate participants. What began as a small initiative offering minimal scholarships has grown into a thriving organization that now awards over $100,000 in scholarships, empowering kids to pursue their passions and achieve success. We are dedicated to fostering a sense of community, hard work, and dedication while helping kids reach their full potential in the rodeo arena and beyond.
The History of Colorado State High School Rodeo Association
Founded in 1953 in Colorado, our state has a long-standing history of bringing together young athletes and rodeo enthusiasts in a way that emphasizes consistency, reliability, and community involvement. With over seven decades of experience, our state has remained dedicated to the original vision of fostering rodeo talents and keeping the spirit of competition alive for future generations. What truly sets our state apart is the unwavering commitment to consistency and professionalism. From the local clubs to the national level, we adhere to a set of rules and standards that ensure every event runs smoothly. Whether it's the weekly jackpots or the state finals, our participants can always rely on us to provide the best quality experience. This commitment extends to our board members, who are not only dedicated to organizing events but also engage in giving back to the kids through scholarships and prizes. In the past year, our state has hosted and organized several exciting events, continuing our tradition of providing top-notch rodeo experiences for kids. In the fall, we hosted 9 rodeos, and in the spring, 8, culminating in the highly anticipated state finals, all of which were professionally run.
Among our biggest accomplishments this year is our ability to ensure every event is run with the utmost professionalism. Our members also participate in raffles to fundraise, ensuring that there are ample resources to reward participants and sustain the organization. One of the standout initiatives has been our President’s Celebrity Rodeo at the state finals, an event that brings in celebrities to participate and engage with the kids. These renowned figures also support the cause through generous donations and interact with the young participants, offering autographs and valuable insights. One of the biggest challenges our state has faced is securing sponsorships, as it requires significant financial support to continue our operations. Each year, we must work hard to redeem existing sponsorships, find new ones, and maintain strong relationships with past sponsors. Jim Ward, our president for the past five years, has played a pivotal role in addressing this challenge. He took the initiative to form the sponsorship committee, bringing on influential names that have helped elevate the organization. Through his dedication and strategic approach, our club has made significant strides in overcoming this hurdle and ensuring its continued success.
In the future, our state plans to continue selling raffle tickets as a key initiative to support the organization and ensure its longevity. This effort not only helps raise the necessary funds to keep our activities going but also fosters a sense of community by encouraging everyone involved to contribute to the cause. By getting everyone engaged in fundraising, we aim to strengthen the bonds within the state while securing the resources needed for our future endeavors.
